Kinko Gallery
Listed below are several examples of Kinko tosogu dating from the Momoyama period through to the late Edo period. The images are thumbnails to links with larger images and some written detail.

Ko Kinko Tsuba
Ko kinko tsuba. With a well carved shakudo rim. It dates to the late Muromachi or Momoyama Era. It is mokko in shape with a floral pattern delicately carved on its surface. Small droplets of dew have been added to the leaves.


Ko Kinko Sukashi Tsuba
Ko kinko sukashi tsuba. Copper plate with Nanako ground, finished in rich shakudo. Elongated round shape with a delecate floral pattern finished in shakudo and gold. It dates to the late Muromachi/Momoyama Era.


Ko Kinko Uchikatana Tsuba
Ko kinko tsuba. Mid Muromachi period, Small Yamagane plate with lacquer and shakudo fukuri.


Ko Kinko Sukashi Tsuba
Ko kinko sukashi tsuba. Early Muromachi period bronze tsuba .


Ko Kinko Kozuka
Ko Kinko kozuka from the Muromachi period. A kachimushi (dragonfly) design. Shakudo nanakoji, takabori iroe. Featured in the book Jidai Kodomono Shu published by the Fittings Museum.


Ko Mino Kogai
Ko Mino Kogai. Mid Muromachi period. Theme of grooved ruler and grapes, shakudō, nanako ground and very high relief carving..


Ko Goto Kogai
Ko Goto Kogai from the Muromachi period. Done in the style of Sojo. It may well be a piece by the second mainline Goto master. The playful theme shows a dog or puppy in takabori iroe with a stick in it's mouth. The dog has his paw on a long shakudo string that is attached at the other end to a awabi (abalone) shell


Ko Goto Kogai
Ko Goto Kogai from the late Muromachi period. Attributed to the second mainline master, Goto Sojo by the Nihon Tosogu Bijutsukan. This is a very pleasant theme depicting Biwa (loquat fruits) in takabori iroe with 3 leaves in shakudo.


Ko Kinko Kogai
Jidai Kogai from the mid to late Muromachi period. Yamagane construction with nanako jiban. Kata sagaru, there is lacquer on the jiban also.


Ezo Menuki
Ezo menuki, Moromachi Jidai. Edaume no Zu (Figure of Plum branch), Yamagane-ji (unrefined copper surface), katachi-bori (carved with the motif in full), Gold Iroe. It has Inyone (male-female) style posts.


Ko Kinko Menuki
Ko Kinko menuki in shakudo and gold. Kuchinashi no zu ( Gardenia theme ), Shakudo-ji Katachibori Iroe, Momoyama jidai. NBTHK Kanteisho.


Kyo Goto Menuki
Goto menuki signed Goto Mitsukore in tanzaku mei. Aoi leaves in Shakudo and blossoms in Gold. Silver twine binds the floral arangement.
